About WE

Words Eclectic (WE) Publishing

Poetry. Publishing. Community Voice.

Words Eclectic (WE) Publishing is a cultural publishing and creative production company rooted in unapologetic truth-telling, literacy, and storytelling anchored in Black ancestral memory and movement and cultural identity across generations.

We develop and publish poetry, practitioner texts, and authorship-centered frameworks that position voice as knowledge and publishing as a tool for ownership, clarity, and transformation. Our work is designed to live beyond single events—unfolding through publications, invited engagements, and partner-led programs stewarded with intention.

Our Purpose

Words Eclectic (WE) Publishing exists to amplify authentic voices and honor the enduring legacy of Black liberation and resistance across generations. We recognize how voice, art, and poetry have served as essential tools for asserting humanity and confronting oppressive forces. Literature and the arts are foundational to learning and culture.

Our work centers:

  • authorship as a literacy practice

  • publishing as cultural infrastructure

  • storytelling as a form of truth, agency, and continuity

The Sugar Uncoated™ Method (SUM)

Our work is guided by Sugar Uncoated™ Publishing-Based Literacy, an arts-centered, ELA-based method in development that articulates publishing and authorship as literacy practice, centering voice, culture, and lived experience through poetry and real-world production.

This is not a scripted curriculum.

It is a literacy method in development, articulated through texts, practitioner resources, and studio-based frameworks, and stewarded by educators, schools, and organizations seeking depth, integrity, and long-term impact.

Our Approach

We do not mass-produce programming or maintain a fixed public events calendar. Instead, we collaborate with institutions and organizations to bring the work into the world through aligned partnerships, shared stewardship, and long-term engagement.

Our approach is relational and intentional, grounded in respect for community histories and cultural integrity.

Founder

Words Eclectic (WE) Publishing was founded by Dr. Diedra Price, poet, publisher, and cultural producer. Her work centers poetry as literary art and a site of collective meaning-making, where language shapes how people relate, govern themselves, and understand responsibility to one another across educational, cultural, and community spaces.

Looking Ahead

Words Eclectic (WE) Publishing continues to expand the Sugar Uncoated™ Uni-verse through new publications, youth authorship platforms, invited engagements, and partnerships rooted in equity, creativity, and care. Where poetry speaks truth and authorship becomes freedom.
